Blockchain companies based in Busan are accelerating their global market expansion, achieving consecutive milestones on Europe's information and communications technology (ICT) stage. The Busan Metropolitan Government announced that after dispatching 9 promising local blockchain companies to 'GITEX AI Europe 2026' held in Berlin, Germany, it confirmed the potential for global investment attraction, business cooperation, and local market entry.

The most notable achievement was delivered by Busan-based enterprise MarinaChain. Presenting its environmental regulation compliance solution for the maritime logistics sector, the company placed 3rd overall in the 'Supernova Challenge'—a global startup IR competition—earning a cash prize of 10,000 euros. Ranking among the top contenders in a field of over 130 innovative companies worldwide, MarinaChain is evaluated as having demonstrated both its technical capabilities and the scalability of its business model on the international stage.

This exhibition is a major European tech event bringing together innovative companies, investors, and buyers from around the globe. The Busan Metropolitan Government, in partnership with Daegu Metropolitan City, the Ministry of Science and ICT, and the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA), established a Korea Pavilion to support domestic companies in uncovering overseas business opportunities. The Busan Metropolitan Government and the Busan Techno Park provided close operational support, interpretation, and buyer consultation services for participating companies, focusing on expanding touchpoints with local investors and market stakeholders.

Concrete results followed. During the exhibition, Busan-based companies conducted $3.946 million worth of investment consultations and $25.397 million in export and sales consultations, ultimately signing a total of 16 memorandums of understanding (MOUs).

Achievements are extending beyond Europe into the Asian market as well. Previously at 'GITEX ASIA 2026' in Singapore, Busan-based company Medifun signed a strategic MOU with a Thai medical tourism platform firm, subsequently concluding a definitive agreement to establish a joint venture (JV) and launching its full-scale entry into the Southeast Asian market.
