DB Financial Investment has been selected as the preferred bidder for the 2026 Blockchain Cluster Project—an open-competition initiative backed by the Ministry of Science and ICT and KISA, and executed by Busan Metropolitan City and Busan Techno Park—the company announced on the 11th.

Following the selection, DB Financial Investment will launch a joint project with MarinaChain later this month to develop and commercialize a Busan-specialized, blockchain-based carbon reduction Security Token Offering (STO) platform.

The project leverages energy-saving equipment at major logistics centers in Busan as underlying assets to test the feasibility of an STO-based fractional investment model tied to carbon reduction revenue rights. It aims to verify the liquidity and technical utility of carbon assets on a distributed ledger while establishing the stability and marketability needed for a publicly tradeable financial product.

To this end, DB Financial Investment is partnering with Busan-based maritime fintech firm MarinaChain to link carbon reduction data to a distributed ledger and perform technical verification for processing high-volume transactions without delay. Meanwhile, DB Financial Investment will oversee overall financial structuring, including designing an STO public offering framework that complies with the Capital Markets Act.

To ensure seamless execution and facilitate partner collaboration, DB Financial Investment recently opened an office on the 63rd floor of the Busan International Finance Center (BIFC). The same floor houses the preparatory team for the Korea Exchange-Koscom consortium (KDX), which holds preliminary approval for a fractional investment OTC exchange. DB Financial Investment plans to collaborate with regional institutions to boost Busan's digital financial infrastructure.
