Korea National Maritime & Ocean University (KMOU) announced on the 10th that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with MarinaChain, a Singapore-based blockchain maritime big data company, to build an eco-friendly vessel blockchain data partnership and jointly drive voluntary carbon credit certification and creation.

The signing ceremony took place at the university headquarters, attended by KMOU President Do Deok-hee, MarinaChain CEO Ha Seong-yeop, and key officials from both institutions.

Under this agreement, the two organizations have established a strategic partnership. They committed to active mutual cooperation across key areas, including collaboration on operating 'MarinaNet'—a blockchain-based data storage and analytics platform—sharing vessel data on carbon emissions within the shipping · maritime industry, discovering joint business opportunities for voluntary carbon credit verification based on hydrogen energy production technologies, and establishing a technology holding company.

"This agreement holds great significance as we work together with KMOU for the overall advancement of the maritime sector in Korea, a global maritime powerhouse," said Ha Seong-yeop, CEO of MarinaChain. "We will strive to achieve outstanding results, particularly in the field of carbon emissions data."
