The Korea Institute of Startup & Entrepreneurship Development (KISED) announced on May 28 that South Korean startups participating in Viva Technology 2024 in Paris, France, secured a total of 11 Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs), one overseas proof-of-concept agreement, and one letter of intent for investment.

Viva Technology, commonly known as VivaTech, is Europe’s leading startup exhibition held annually in Paris. This year, the event drew 165,000 visitors and featured over 13,000 startups from roughly 160 countries.

A total of 17 domestic startups participated through the K-Startup Pavilion operated by KISED. The pavilion served as a launchpad for many of these companies to forge agreements and enter the European market.

Among them, MarinaChain, a startup that leverages AI technology to analyze carbon emission data for the maritime and logistics industries, signed an MOU with Saudi logistics company SENT to build AI-driven carbon footprint datasets and collaborate with government agencies.

Choi Yeol-soo, Acting President of KISED, stated that it is deeply meaningful to see Korean startups gain international recognition at Europe’s largest tech event, adding that the institute will continue expanding its support to help promising startups scale globally.
