MarinaChain Ranks First in On-Site Evaluation at OpenAI's Silicon Valley HQ and Selected as Final Collaboration Partner

MarinaChain Showcases ParseAI Tech at OpenAI HQ in San Francisco, Winning 'Most AGI Potential Award' Co-Hosted by MSS and OpenAI

Maritime AI startup MarinaChain achieved first place in an on-site evaluation held at OpenAI's headquarters in Silicon Valley, winning the 'Most AGI Potential Award'.

The Ministry of SMEs and Startups (MSS) hosted the 'K-Startup & OpenAI Matching Day in US' event at OpenAI's San Francisco office to evaluate 14 shortlisted Korean AI startups. The event was attended by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, OpenAI executives, MSS officials, the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in San Francisco, and representatives from the participating startups.

Following technology presentations and Q&A sessions, MarinaChain earned the top ranking among the startups. Alongside two other companies—Waddle and ClaiRynt—it was honored with the Most AGI Potential Award. In total, 10 startups, including MarinaChain, were selected for final collaboration and support from OpenAI.

MarinaChain garnered significant attention for its innovative application of AI to the maritime industry. The company presented a platform that uses AI to track, forecast, and optimize carbon accounting across maritime, port, and logistics supply chains, specifically targeting Scope 3 emissions. OpenAI recognized MarinaChain's potential for digitizing previously manual carbon calculations, eliminating inefficiencies, and delivering precise, automated solutions.

MarinaChain assists enterprises in establishing carbon reduction strategies by providing calculation and data analytics for Scope 3 emissions. Through its vessel emission management software, MarinaNet, the company simplifies compliance with IMO DCS and EU MRV regulations while enabling streamlined calculation of the Carbon Intensity Indicator (CII) using operational data. Furthermore, MarinaChain offers ESG consulting to help shipping lines and terminals proactively prepare for mandatory ESG disclosures, mitigate sustainability risks, and enhance enterprise value when contracting with global conglomerates.

"With rapid advancements in AI, industries worldwide are evolving quickly, and the maritime sector is bound to undergo significant transformation," said Ha Seong-yeop, CEO of MarinaChain. "Only companies that boldly adopt and integrate new technologies will adapt to this new era and seize new opportunities. The integration of maritime data with AI will play a critical role in shaping the future of the entire shipping and logistics ecosystem."
