The Young Maritime, Shipbuilding, and Logistics Professionals Association (YMMA) successfully hosted its inaugural public forum on May 22 at the Haewoon Building in Yeouido, Seoul.

Formed voluntarily by young industry professionals in 2016, YMMA had previously focused on internal member lectures. Marking its first open-to-the-public forum, the event was established to showcase success stories and innovative ideas from youth-led startups while proposing policy initiatives to expand entrepreneurial opportunities in the maritime sector.

During the forum, Ha Seong-yeop, CEO of MarinaChain, delivered a keynote presentation on "AI Solutions for Scope 3 Carbon Emissions in Maritime, Port, and Logistics." His talk was followed by presentations from leaders of prominent maritime tech startups, including MapSea Corporation and Seadronix, as well as an open panel discussion.

"We hope this forum serves as a new growth driver for the maritime, shipbuilding, and logistics industries," said Sung Woo-rin, an attorney at DR & AJU LLC who serves as head of YMMA.
