Singapore-based MarinaChain was named the top international startup at this year's 'K-Startup Grand Challenge 2023.'

The Ministry of SMEs and Startups (MSS) held the 'K-Startup Grand Challenge 2023' Demoday from October 31 to November 2 at the Lotte Hotel World in Songpa-gu, Seoul. Launched in 2016, the K-Startup Grand Challenge is a government initiative designed to encourage talented foreign tech entrepreneurs to establish and scale their businesses in South Korea.

At the awards ceremony, MarinaChain from Singapore claimed first place and was awarded the top cash prize of $120,000. Luckmon from the United States took second place, while ANIWARE Company Limited from Hong Kong secured third place.

MarinaChain provides carbon management software and service solutions tailored for gas terminals, shipyards, and shipowners in the maritime industry. Luckmon operates a game loyalty platform for gamers, and ANIWARE runs an AI-powered health diagnostics and monitoring platform for pets.

The top 20 teams, including the five prize-winning startups, will receive an aggregate total of 1.225 billion KRW in settlement support over approximately 15 weeks. Furthermore, to help them refine their business models, the government plans to provide additional acceleration support, networking opportunities through local incubators, and office space at the Pangyo Startup Campus through the first half of next year.
