AI-based maritime tech company MarinaChain announced on the 20th that it won both the Korea Shipping Association (KSA) Chairman's Special Award and the Korea Institute of Marine Science & Technology Promotion (KIMST) President's Award (Excellence Award) at the 2024 Oceans and Fisheries Startup Contest.

Co-hosted by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries and KIMST, the contest aimed to discover innovative technologies in the maritime industry and support prospective founders and early-stage companies.

During the event, MarinaChain CEO Ha Seong-yeop delivered a presentation on the company's AI technology and marine environmental compliance solutions. The technology showcased drew significant attention for its application in ESG regulatory compliance and efficient vessel management, earning recognition for its technological innovation and sustainability with two award wins.

MarinaChain's core business involves supporting vessel performance monitoring and environmental regulatory compliance through an AI-powered platform. Powered by its proprietary ParseAI technology, the platform automatically analyzes voyage reports and visualizes data on a dashboard, helping vessel operators efficiently respond to regulations such as EU ETS and FuelEU Maritime.

By leveraging Asia's leading carbon emissions AI solution platform, MarinaChain contributes significantly to enhancing transparency and sustainability in shipping operations. The company also leads the domestic maritime logistics AI sector through various projects aimed at digitally transforming documentation across the shipping, heavy industry, and logistics sectors.
